HOMEWOOD SUITES TAMPA/BRANDON PROUDLY DISPLAYS LOCAL ARTIST CLAYTON SWARTZ WORK IN HOTEL

BRANDON, FL (March 16, 2009) – The Homewood Suites Tampa/Brandon is proud to announce the display of local artist Clayton Swartz work in its lobby.  Featuring a 7 foot, sculpture titled Spades of the Florida Reef, the artwork is display to better connect with the communities in which they are staying.   

In conjunction with the Homewood Suites brand’s national rollout of its local artwork initiative – Homewood Is Where the Art Is – hotels display original art created by local and/or regional artist.  Hotels were required to identify an artist whose work reflected one of four themes – home, travel, family or local essence.  The program was developed as a way for Homewood Suites extended-stay travelers to better connect with the communities in which they are staying, whether for a few nights, weeks or months.  “The addition of Clayton Swartz artwork to our lobby is a great opportunity to engage with our guests, support local artists and become more involved in our local community,” stated General Manager Patsy Sandeman. 

Local artist Clayton Swartz begins to describe his work as “magnificent saturated translucent colors, captivating formal abstractions, metal collages of biomorphic shape and form.” He creates aluminum sculptures by plasma cutting, bending, hammering and TIG welding.  His subject matter ranges from modern abstract forms dealing with human life, love and inspiration to formally abstracted sea life and even lately monumental public art. 

Managed by White Lodging of Merrillville, IN, the Homewood Suites Tampa/Brandon features a unique upscale high-rise look with spacious suites and home-line services and amenities.  All 126 suites feature Homewood’s distinct bedding packages and special touches like granite counter tops, wood laminate flooring and curved shower rods.  Additionally the hotel features a complimentary daily hotel breakfast buffet, outdoor pool and exercise room and 24-hour business center.
