Originally developed and owned by White Lodging, REI Real Estate Services and Kite Companies, White Lodging has continuously managed the Indianapolis Marriott downtown since its opening in February 2001.
The hotel was the first in Indianapolis and one of only five Marriott hotels to be named a Certified Green Hotel by the non-profit group Green Seal. A frequent recipient of Meetings & Conventions Gold Key Awards, the Indianapolis Marriott was also the first Marriott Hotel to join the Convention and Resort Network.
In summer 2016, White Lodging announced that it was re-acquiring the hotel and announced shortly thereafter that the hotel would receive a $40 Million re-invention. Throughout the year in 2017, White Lodging & REI Real Estate Services updated all 622 original guest rooms as well as adding 28 new rooms. Following completion of the guest room renovation, all of the public spaces were updated – including all 43,000 square feet of hi-tech event space, the lobby and the additional of Marriott’s signature M Club. The restaurants were also reimagined, adding the brand new Conner’s Kitchen + Bar, Loaf + Vine Market and Rye Bar.
The reacquisition gives White Lodging 2,276 connected guestrooms and suites that are connected to the Indiana Convention Center with over 140,000 square feet of meeting space (including the city’s two largest ballroom) in 5 properties in downtown Indianapolis, allowing the newly re-imagined Marriott Indyplace to effectively compete with the largest destination convention hotels in North America.
